Mountain Blue Orchards (MBO) is proud to announce a historic legal victory in the Kunming Intermediate People's Court, Yunnan Province, China

This ruling represents the first successful case in China for the protection of Plant Breeders' Rights (PBR) in blueberries.

The court ruled in favour of MBO in a lawsuit against an unlicensed nursery for the illegal reproduction, propagation and sale of the variety 'Ridley 1602' – Eureka Sunrise (L25). This decision sets an important precedent, sending a clear message that the abuse of protected plant varieties must stop.

MBO remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting innovation in the blueberry industry and ensuring that breeders’ rights are respected. We deeply appreciate all those involved in achieving this important milestone.

We reaffirm our commitment to continue defending against illegal propagation and maintaining the integrity of the industry.
