OCEX of Taipei: Great opportunity opens up to export blueberries to Taiwan

In order to diversify the exportable supply of fruits to the Taiwanese market, the Commercial Office of Peru (OCEX) in Taipei and the National Service of Agrarian Health of Peru (SENASA) have been working together with the phytosanitary authorities of Taiwan to obtain the phytosanitary protocol of blueberries.

This work was born from the fact that the nation of Taiwan is short of blueberries between the months of September to November, which could be used by the Peruvian producers of this fruit.

The OCEX of Taipei - which belongs to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) projects that such a situation would allow Peru to position itself as an important supplier and achieve a 20% participation in a period of three years, equivalent to approximately US $ 2 millions.

It is important to mention that in the last five years, the Taiwanese imports of fresh blueberries registered a significant growth of 318%, amounting to more than US $ 10 million.
