Peruvian offer in one of the main global showcases of fresh fruits and vegetables
Under the Super Foods Peru brand, more than 40 national companies show the best of their fresh fruit and vegetable offering at Fruit Attraction 2023, one of the most important fairs in the sector in Europe, which will take place from October 3 to 5 in Madrid. , Spain, reported the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ).
Peru is present for the tenth consecutive year with the aim of promoting contact between exporting companies, mainly small and medium-sized, as well as learning about global trends in the fresh fruit and vegetable market.
PROMPERÚ together with the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (AGAP) organizes the Peruvian presence in two pavilions of 256 square meters in total, distributed in 18 stands for companies and four unions.
“The fresh fruit and vegetable sector is one of the most dynamic in the country's food industry and is recognized for its versatility, professionalism and compliance with the standards that the market demands, which ensures successful Peruvian participation in the fair activity. "said Juan Carlos Mathews, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
Likewise, Angélica Matsuda, executive president of PROMPERÚ, added that some of the products that will be presented are grapes, avocado, mango, banana, blueberries, asparagus, citrus fruits, figs, onion and ginger. In this edition, it is expected to exceed 600 business meetings and generate USD 120 million in commercial projections to be realized in the following twelve months.
This international showcase will welcome 137 countries and more than 90 visitors are expected to arrive.

Fruit Attraction is for us one of the most important exhibition platforms, not only because it allows us to show the incredible fruit and vegetable variety of Peruvian producers and entrepreneurs, but also the great economic and social impact generated by the agro-export industry in our country.", highlighted Gabriel Amaro, president of AGAP.
Exports
Exports of fresh products to Europe in 2022 totaled USD 1 million, with 602.3% concentrated in Holland, the United Kingdom and Spain. Between January and July of this year, shipments to the Old Continent were USD 92 million, maintaining the same main destinations. The most demanded products were avocados, grapes, asparagus, mangoes, onions, blueberries, ginger, among others.
It is important to mention that Spain continues to gain relevance for Peru as a gateway to Europe and it is expected that by the end of 2023, it will occupy the second position as the most important destination for national fresh fruits and vegetables.
Since many fresh products are seasonal, Peru has become an off-season supplier for Europe, allowing consumers to enjoy a varied offering throughout the year.
