Onubafruit, Fresón de Palos and Cuna de Platero lead the Top 3 berries

The three main European berry operators account for a combined production of 191.659 tons, representing 51% of the total volume for the campaign in Spain.

Each campaign is unique, and the 23/24 financial year was marked by a contraction in the supply of strawberries and raspberries due to a reduction in acreage caused by uncertainty about the availability of irrigation water—a very different situation from the current campaign.

This led to a 3,4% decrease in production compared to the previous season, reaching a total volume of 371.713 tons. In contrast, blueberry production increased by 5,5%.

These figures are reflected in our Top 15 berries of 2025, which takes stock of the previous year (23/24), and in which only three entities see an increase in their volume (Cuna de Platero, Algaida and Berryworld Iberia), five maintain it (Onubafruit, Surexport, Unica, Surberry and Alfrut) and four decrease (Fresón de Palos, Fruta de Andalucía, Las Palmeritas and Plusberries).

Globally, production has dropped by 20% from one Top 15 to the next, probably not only due to this drop in production, but also to the departure of two major producers, Arofa and Grufesa (whose figures they don't provide this year, totaling 81.000). Neither has Frutas Esther, although with less production (4.500 in the 2024 Top XNUMX).

Thus, Berrynest's production figures (ninth position) enter the Top, while Perla Huelva and Tasemar are in last place.

We'll see how the abundant rainfall this season is impacting production in the run-up to next year's results.
