Peru: Non-traditional exports exceed prepandemic levels

Shipments grew 16% between January and September, in relation to the same period of 2019, reported the BCR.

All the  non-traditional exports They accumulated an amount of US $ 11,582 million between January and September of this year, thus growing 33.9% compared to the same period in 2020, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR).

The monetary entity even pointed out that the pre-pandemic levels have already been exceeded, because there was an increase of 16% in relation to what was achieved in that same season of 2019.

He indicated that the increase was due to the higher volumes shipped of agricultural products.

In the period evaluated with respect to that registered before the pandemic, higher sales were observed in copper wire rod (92.4%), cotton T-shirts (63.2%), blueberries (77.4%), fresh avocado (40.5%), phosphate calcium (11.1%), fresh asparagus (5%), among other products.

As for September 2021, non-traditional exports amounted to US $ 1,598 million, registering an increase of 23.7% versus last year and 37.5% compared to the same month of 2019.
