Peru will boost blueberry exports to Indonesia
The Peruvian president, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, expressed his expectations that the project will soon be concluded Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and Peru, which will allow Peru to supply basic products such as blueberries and pomegranates to Indonesia.
Zegarra conveyed this to the Indonesian president, Prabowo Subianto, during a working lunch held on Monday at the Oval Hall of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. "Our presence aims to strengthen our trade relations. We will soon sign the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement (CEPA) to allow our blueberries to enter the Indonesian market, along with pomegranates, the process for which is currently underway," he stated. Zegarra also acknowledged the simplification of policies, reducing the procedures for these exports.
President Boluarte arrived in Jakarta on August 10 for a state visit, following the invitation of President Prabowo, who met with her at the 2024 APEC Summit in Lima. "Since then, we have worked hard, through our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to make this visit a reality. We will also celebrate our 50 years of friendship between Indonesia and Peru," she added.
Boluarte was welcomed at Merdeka Palace by a cavalry cortege escorting her presidential vehicle. President Prabowo greeted Boluarte and her delegation before escorting them to the Palace.
The Peruvian delegation included Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo, Minister of Economy and Finance Raúl Pérez-Reyes Espejo, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation Ángel Manero Campo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, Secretary General of the Presidential Office Enrique Vilchez, Peruvian Ambassador to Indonesia Luis Tsuboyama, and Director General for Asia and Oceania of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fernando Quirós Campos.
The Indonesian delegation included Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Minister of State Prasetyo Hadi.
