Peru: La Libertad is the main agro-export region of the country

North coast regions top the charts and grow every year. They are regions of great extensions and have more water than those of the center and south of Peru.

Increase in numbers

In 2020, regional agro-exports (not counting Lima and Callao) totaled US $ 5.909.351.919 (3.385.553.122 kilos), representing an increase of 8.4% compared to the US $ 5.449.602.763 (3.139.863.005 kilos) reached in 2019 , informed the president of the consultancy Inform @ ction, Fernando Cilloniz.

The main exporting region of our country in terms of value is La Libertad, which in 2020 made shipments for US $ 1.558.480.174 (713.786.127 kilos), compared to the US $ 1.523.978.735 (684.992.763 kilos) reached the previous year.

Strong demand

In the second position was Ica with shipments for US $ 1.300.605.970 (746.366.139 kilos) in 2020, compared to US $ 1.205.678.085 (684.678.287 kilos) in 2019.

The third place in the ranking is for Piura, which in 2020 made shipments for US $ 1.022.407.567 (690.808.941 kilos), versus the US $ 887.030.826 (630.064.211 kilos) of the previous year.

Lambayeque was placed in fourth place with shipments for US $ 699.096.307 (353.177.999 kilos), noticing an increase compared to the US $ 647.644.867 (356.578.337 kilos) of 2019.

Ascending figures

“As you can see, the north coast is packed and growing every year. They are large regions and have more water than the central and southern regions of Peru ”, Cillóniz commented.

In fifth place is Cajamarca with shipments for US $ 249.416.231 (87.093.757 kilos), when the previous year shipments totaled US $ 242.187.865 (93.774.380 kilos). It is followed by Junín, whose exports in 2020 amounted to US $ 197.008.889 (94.670.592 kilos) when in 2019 they reached US $ 100.111.333 (49.903.895 kilos).

Ancash with shipments in 2020 for US $ 172.493.124 (73.974.518 kilos) when in 2019 it shipped US $ 160.562.244 (84.128.834 kilos); and Arequipa with exports for US $ 130.679.828 (120.991.912 kilos) when the previous year was US $ 123.544.000 (109.887.239 kilos), they were located in the seventh and eighth place in the ranking.

A good 2020

In the ninth and tenth position were San Martín with exports in 2020 for US $ 128.254.959 (110.662.342 kilos) when in 2019 they were US $ 105.932.298 (96.230.349 kilos); and Tacna with US $ 65.904.178 (86.705.343 kilos) when in 2019 they were US $ 60.243.913 (79.400.031 kilos).

Facts & figures

. In 2020, agro-exports by Lima totaled US $ 1.556.740.663 (791.730.551 kilos, compared to the US $ 1.645.150.275 (800.132.788 kilos) reached in 2019. For their part, agricultural shipments from Callao in 2020 totaled US $ 203.860.053 (181.670.023 kilos) versus US $ 252.678.478 (207.692.085 kilos) in 2019.

. In this way, total agricultural exports by Peru in 2020 amounted to US $ 7.696.952.635 (4.358.953.696 kilos) showing an increase of 4.8% compared to the US $ 7.347.431.516 (4.147.687.878 kilos) of the previous year.
