Peru lifts sanitary restrictions on US blueberries
The Peruvian government imposed phytosanitary restrictions on the importation of cranberry cuttings of origin and origin from the United States, a report from the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) announced on Friday.
In accordance with this new provision, the Peruvian authorities require US companies to have the phytosanitary import permit issued by this body, prior to certification and shipping from the country of origin or origin.
Senasa indicated that this certification must be accompanied by an additional declaration where it is revealed that blueberry cuttings are free of various types of viruses that affect this product.
The Peruvian authorities also recommend that the shipping containers be new, closed, resistant, free of material foreign to the product, duly labeled indicating the name of the cranberry and the trading company.
Other requirements imposed by the Peruvian authorities on this US product include the need to indicate the register of importers, place of production and technical managers of material subject to current post-entry quarantine.
With this restrictive measure, the Peruvian government seeks to preserve the entry of shipments of blueberry seedlings (Vaccinium corymbosum) disease-free, for which all these products will be quarantined by Senasa inspectors.
