Blueberry industry:

Blueberry productivity and quality: the agenda that defines the next season

Lima will host the XXXIX International Blueberries Seminar – Lima 2026 on March 11 and 12, the first milestone of the 2026 world tour. The country's most important blueberry seminar brings together conferences, a complementary hall, a commercial area, and a technical field tour to compare production in pots and in soil, review critical protocols, and return with an action plan.

Lima, meeting point that opens the 2026 Tour

Peru has established itself as a regional leader in blueberries, and Lima will inaugurate the 2026 tour, before continuing on to Chile, Mexico, Morocco, and China. The event brings together producers, exporters, and importers; nurseries and genetics providers; suppliers of irrigation, substrates, nutrition, and post-harvest products; packaging and logistics companies; as well as technology services, researchers, and consultants.

The proposal combines technical evidence, demonstrations, and business spaces, so that each team can compare criteria, validate solutions, and transform them into measurable decisions in the field and in the market, explains Blueberries Consulting.

Business, networking and international community

With attendees from over 25 countries, the trade area functions as a B2B hub, facilitating live demonstrations, executive meetings, and sustained visibility for sponsors and exhibitors. The B2B matchmaking sessions have connected companies in post-harvest, packaging, irrigation, and analytics with decision-makers, integrating the supply chain and strengthening technical collaboration.

Technical tour: decisions on the ground

The Peru 2026 Technical Tour is part of the Continuing Education Certificate offered by the University of Almería and Blueberries Consulting. It includes six hours of field work within a program that combines eleven online hours and nine in-person hours during the seminar. During the tour, the host technical teams guide participants in the comparative observation of pot and soil management practices, helping them translate what they observe into verifiable, ready-to-implement tasks.

The 39th International Blueberries Seminar – Lima 2026 builds upon past experiences: through conferences, panels, and a trade fair, criteria are refined, case studies are compared, and agreements with suppliers are finalized. Thus, the training program is seamlessly integrated from start to finish—online, field, and seminar—culminating in an academic certificate that validates the professional development and provides curricular traceability for the implementation plan.

Program: applicable science and comparability

The program brings together specialists with recognized technical, scientific, and business experience, representing key producing and consuming countries such as Peru, Chile, Mexico, the United States, Spain, and Australia. The program's curation prioritizes comparable results and applied case studies, ensuring a productive dialogue between academia, production, post-harvest handling, and the market. This combination elevates the quality of the discussions and empowers each participant to gain actionable insights applicable to their own production and commercial realities.

The Main Hall features technical and commercial conferences with Q&A sessions, prioritizing measurable criteria for decision-making. Simultaneously, the Complementary Hall will focus on R&D, nutrition, and biostimulation, providing application guidelines and clear metrics to translate evidence into daily practice.

  • Market and strategy (Wednesday 11, morning).

Trade flows and consumption habits; evolution of the Peruvian production matrix; price dynamics as a driver of value. A logistics panel will analyze how efficiency at the source redefines costs and competitiveness. A market overview will update the global landscape and strategies for upcoming cycles.

  • Physiology, nutrition and prediction (Wednesday 11, afternoon).

Mechanisms of floral induction and differentiation; variety-directed nutrition for new genetics; yield prediction based on artificial intelligence. The panel concludes with “Engineering Firmness,” which integrates nutrition, irrigation, and post-harvest tools to supply long-distance markets without sacrificing quality.

In addition, recognition will be given for excellence and contribution to the global blueberry industry, highlighting the career and impact of industry leaders.

  • Health, control and quality (Thursday 12).

Quantification of the impact of foliar pathogens on yield and quality; nutrition and health control tools in pot production; and a strategic solution to improve harvest and quality management.

The closing will be carried out by a panel with a systemic approach to reduce losses and maximize quality throughout the entire chain, up to the final consumer.
