Peru: Promotion of land sales in Chavimochic and Majes Siguas in Asia
Proinversión promotes in the Asian market the potential of the lands of the irrigation projects of Chavimochic in the region of La Libertad and Majes Siguas in Arequipa.
The investment director of Proinversión, Javier Correa Merchan, confirmed that the next auction of these agricultural lands is part of the package of projects that this institution promotes to investors in Japan at the start of the IX Road Show Asia 2015.
The same will be done before potential investors from Seoul and Beijing to participate in the auction and transfer their capital to the aforementioned large projects.
The third stage of the Chavimochic project, awarded to the Rio Santa - Chavimochic consortium, will add 1,000 hectares of new land to 63 agriculture and will improve the irrigation of another 48 thousand hectares in the La Libertad region.
The green and white asparagus, piquillo and morrón pepper, artichoke, avocado, mango, grape, Andean and creole papaya, Andean grains and blueberries are produced and exported in Chavimochic.
The main crops of La Libertad are offered in the markets of countries such as Canada, the United States, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Lebanon. Also Japan, the Philippines, Australia, South Africa, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia and Chile, among others.
While the Majes Siguas II project will auction 38 thousand 500 hectares of fertile land in the Pampas de Siguas, on the basis of the incremental water to be generated with the water consolidation works to be delivered in concession.
In this way, some 100 thousand hectares of land that would be incorporated in the next few months will be added to the agricultural sector, which has developed an export sector that has had an excellent performance in Peru in recent years.
Speaking to the Andina news agency, Correa stressed that it is important, within the framework of the promotion of investments in Peru, to capture interest also in the productive sectors.
He highlighted the excellent quality of the soils of these projects, as well as the climate of the Peruvian coast in which La Libertad and Arequipa are located.
