  • It is intended to verify the loss of competitiveness with competing countries
  • Estimate the changes that will occur when applying artificial and robotic intelligence in the fields and processes
  • It is estimated that about 250 thousand jobs will be lost in a period of five to ten years
  • The sector must start preparing for the significant changes

According to all forecasts, in a period of around 5 to 10 years, 250 thousand jobs will be lost in the Chilean fruit industry as a result of the incorporation of new technologies such as robotization, mechanization and artificial intelligence, with the consequent effect on a social and economic that this implies for the country. All of which will surely have an impact not only at the productive and technological level, but especially at the employment level. We are really concerned, but also busy in looking for what the future will present us, as well as defining solutions in time ", said Ronald Bown, President of ASOEX.

temporeras-packingCurrently, many of Chile's competing countries are advancing in many areas more quickly, which translates into a loss of relative competitiveness. We must know this in advance to be able to adopt the corresponding corrective measures ”, added the leader.

The President of ASOEX also highlighted that a key element for the success of the study is participation. ”It requires the participation of the maximum number of industry players, who get involved in the study, answering requests for information, as well as enroll in the Regional Cycles that we will carry out on 24 and September 26 in Chillán and Monticello, respectively, ”he concluded.
