According to APAMA, the blueberry harvest begins with high expectations and fields with good projection
The harvest of blueberries in the Argentine Mesopotamia already began at the end of August, with high expectations that arise from the good productive conditions of the fields and a winter that accompanied with adequate temperatures.
As it was advanced from the Association of Producers of Blueberries of the Mesopotamia Argentina (APAMA), it is expected a harvest of around 8000 (eight thousand) tons in the market of fresh, which, according to how the prices are, will be derived in a 90% approximately for export markets.
"The fields are very good, the potential we have. Last year the winter delayed the production to spring, but today the varieties are more advanced"Said Alejandro Pannunzio, president of APAMA.
"The producers are with high expectations, labor hiring levels are equal or higher than the previous year to this time, and we hope that the jobs are higher than last season"He added.
If the climatic and market conditions are maintained, in Mesopotamia the harvest would be extended during the months of September, October and November.
Optimism
"There is optimism in the sector because some costs came down, as some inputs, and we have removed the withholding, in addition to that we return the VAT and export duties, which allows us a more comfortable margin to invest and be up to date with costs", Detailed Pannunzio.
In addition to the government actions that favored the production of blueberries, the leader also pointed out that in terms of state support, a very good joint effort has been made with SENASA.
"If we manage to sustain this articulated work with the State, we will be able to advance and overcome the adversities left by the previous harvest"He concluded.
