International Seminar organized by Blueberries Consulting will address the cherry market in detail

The 2021/22 campaign was the most complex season in recent years for the export of Chilean cherries and was due to multiple factors, such as the shortage of labor, the increase in transportation times and costs, and the delay in procedures. international customs, the lower availability of containers, virus health mitigation protocols, among other challenges.

However, Chile increased its cherry exports by 1% in volume and 6% in value compared to the previous season, reaching 354.952 tons and USD 1.914 million FOB. Achieving 88% of shipments entering the Chinese market, although this meant 3% less than the previous campaign, due to problems caused by port and customs protocols due to the pandemic.

New challenges

The current season, which is in full swing, will face new challenges, although the growth trend of the Chilean cherry industry continues and it is projected that volumes can reach a figure that will fluctuate between 380 and 400. tons exported in the current campaign 2022/23.

This is a significant threat to the cherry industry as it is very possible that a lot of fruit will not arrive on the indicated date.
