According to the Chilean Blueberry Committee-ASOEX, the harvests are coming to an end in the south central zone, leaving the last orchards with late varieties with very limited volumes.

Likewise, the entity specifies, "the southern zone also shows decreasing volumes and as is normal for the time, the harvest work was interrupted by showers in the middle of week 7-2021".

In its Harvest and Export report, the Committee indicates that during week 6-2021 everything developed normally without interruptions due to weather conditions.

In this way, exports reached 3.902 tons in week 6, registering a cumulative total of 108.669 tons, a figure that reflects a 97% advance over the estimate and 4,7% more than the previous season.

Regarding destination markets, of the more than 108 thousand tons, 52% have been sent to North America, 36% to Europe and 11% to the Far East.

In this regard, the Committee highlighted that traditional markets show growth with respect to exports at the same date in the 2019-2020 fiscal year. "Shipments to North America have increased by 8%, in Europe by 14%, on the contrary the Far East has decreased by 27%."

Regarding the reasons that explain this growth, especially in North America, the Committee specifies that “it is due to organic blueberries, which until week 06 have experienced a growth of 28% in this market, which remains with 78% of total shipments from Chile, which already total 18.620 tons. Volume that in turn reflects 25% more than in 2019/20 ”.

The Committee indicated that this growth in the volume of organic blueberries has been favored by the System Approach, which came into effect this season for the Ñuble and Biobio regions.

Finally, he highlighted that Europe has also shown growth in organic, with 17% more this season.
