Season 2020-2021: Exports of organic blueberries from Chile increase 32%

According to information provided by the Chilean Blueberry Committee of ASOEX, exports for the week 08-2021, reached 2.618 tons, while the 2020-2021 exercise is coming to an end.

In its report, the entity emphasizes that the harvests are practically finished in the south central and southern areas, although in this late stage they have been favored by a climate without rain, which has allowed progress without interruptions. In total, shipments total 115.907 tons, 7,2% more than in 2019/20. Of which 55% have been destined for North America, 35% Europe and 10% the Far East.

Organic blueberries

Organic blueberries also continue to rise with 20.388 tons shipped accumulated to week 08 and an increase of 32% compared to the previous season. North America has shown a 38% growth in shipments compared to the previous season and Europe shows a 15% increase in shipments to date.

On the contrary, shipments of frozen blueberries from Chile marked a minimum of 2.573 tons during the month of January, 23% less than the same month of 2020. As explained in previous editions, part of the volume of organic products that was normally destined for the processed industry, this season it was exported fresh, as an effect of the Systems Approach.
