Season 2020-2021: Peaks of Chilean blueberry exports end weeks with more than 104 thousand tons shipped to date

According to information from the Chilean Blueberry Committee-ASOEX, export volumes decreased during week 05, reaching 5.996 tons, marking the end of Chile's peak weeks.

In its latest Crop Report, prepared by IQonsulting for the entity, volumes in the south central zone decreased during week 05, mainly those from the Maule region, as expected due to the rains in week 04.

Meanwhile, the southern zone is contributing the highest export volumes, although it also already shows a decreasing trend.

However, the Committee highlights shipments of week 05 were higher than last season the same week and the accumulated continues the trend of recent weeks, showing an increase of 4,9% compared to 2019/20, with 104.724 tons shipped. Of this total, North America has received 51% of the volumes, Europe 31% and the Far East 11%.

Organics record rise

In the case of organic blueberries they also passed the peak and during week 05 1.465 tons were exported, amounting to a cumulative total of 17.706 tons, with a growth of 25% more than on the same date of the previous year. 77% of organic blueberry shipments have been destined for the North American market and 23% for Europe.
