An agriculture that will dress in magical realism ...

The news is happening quickly in our continent. Today an earthquake, tomorrow a drought, then a flood, or the daily reality of paying the costs of any economic crisis, however far it may be.

The globalized world and the effects of climate change force us to be attentive to any event, because small that this may affect us. The world of agriculture is very permeable to these phenomena. Technology has helped us a lot in recent years, but still can not avoid the consequences of these external events in the production processes.

Future opportunities

In this scenario of certain instability from time to time opportunities arise that can benefit us: International demand for healthy foods; the economic growth of Asia; The international economic treaties that allow opening new markets are some of the facts that have involved the development of our production processes, allowing us to apply more technology and knowledge to increase the competitiveness of our offer.

In Colombia one of these great opportunities is approaching ...

With the development of peace talks between the Government and the guerrilla representatives, hopes are growing that the conflict, which has lasted 50 for years and cost 220 a thousand deaths and seven million victims, is nearing its end by signing peace definitive

The arrival of peace will not only be a great impact for Colombia, but for the entire region.

The challenges: Infrastructure and development of agricultural crops

The conflict, throughout this half century, has spread to almost the entire territory of Colombia, maintaining large geographical areas under the control of belligerent forces or bands of drug traffickers, this has meant that millions of hectares suitable for agricultural cultivation and fruit trees remain impregnable, almost virgin, or exploited only for the cultivation of coca.

The new scenario will imply a great development for Colombia, which in a first stage should promote an ambitious plan in infrastructure in such a way to make the benefits of development reach all corners of the country. The construction of roads, bridges, schools, services, hospitals, new urban centers, airports and all kinds of buildings will make Colombia an opportunity for work and development not only for Colombians.

Free access to the territories that are now under the control of the guerrillas will allow the development of large projects of agricultural and fruit crops in proven rich and fertile lands.

To this we add the large number of reconversion and training projects for the thousands of displaced peasants and former guerrillas who will be integrated into the productive life. International and state funds for productive agricultural entrepreneurship will take place and this will open the opportunities for the development of the most varied agricultural and fruit projects that in other countries have been successful, and many others that will be innovative. Everything can be in an unexplored field full of opportunities.

To this promising future is added the good indices of the present Colombian, with a period of economic growth that has ten consecutive years of blue numbers, despite the current moment in which together with the entire region must face the global economic crisis.

In this period, the middle class doubled, from 15% to 30% of the population, and the poverty rate was reduced from 50% to 35%.

Colombia grew the 2014 to an 4,6% and this 2015 is expected to do so at an 3%, perhaps 3,5%. The Colombian economy is one of the strongest in the region and among its partners in the Pacific Alliance, Chile, Mexico and Peru, only Peru could surpass it in growth rates this year.
