Nutrisco's Valle Frío kicked off the berry season by freezing more than 250 tons of fruit a day
The company focused on the production and export of frozen fruit expanded its cold storage capacity in the middle of the berry season, and plans to freeze up to 350 tons in January 2025.
Valle Frío, the Nutrisco company specializing in frozen fruit, began the 2024-2025 berry season by increasing its capacity to process and freeze more than 250 tons of fruit per day, after a process that involved an investment of eight million dollars that will allow them to reach 350 tons of frozen fruit in January of next year.
Valle Frío's human resources manager, Ernesto Salinas, said that "fruit is an organic product and therefore perishable, so it is important to achieve the capacity to receive 300 tons daily from local farmers and freeze 250 to market in Chile and abroad."
Salinas also highlighted that Valle Frío is a company in constant development and growth, which has set itself the challenge of doubling its production capacity every four years. “As one of the Nutrisco companies, we are focused on aiming to be the industry leaders both nationally and internationally, where we are currently the first exporter of fruit from Chile to the United States and third in Japan,” he explained.
The constant improvement and innovation in the industry also involves Valle Frío's relationship with farmers, as the company has developed a prompt payment system and investments of up to 2 million dollars in advance to fruit producers, a relatively new practice in this industry, where farmers see an opportunity to sell with economic facilities and in greater volume.
