La Libertad displaces Ica in the export of fruits and vegetables
La Libertad has been the main exporting region of fruits and vegetables nationwide during 2019, reaching the $ 996 million. This moved Ica to second place, reported the Association of Agricultural Producer Guilds of Peru (AGAP).
The third location is for Piura with US $ 705 million. Lima continues with US $ 485 million, Lambayeque with US $ 374 million and Áncash with US $ 132 million.
The United States was the main destination market for Peruvian fresh fruits and vegetables during the past year, with a 43% stake, equivalent to US $ 1.606 million.
The list of agricultural products is headed by blueberries with US $ 467 million, surpassing the grape that registered US $ 386 million, and asparagus with US $ 252 million. Hass avocado shipments amounted to US $ 232 million, mangoes US $ 62 million, among other products.
Other commercial destinations for fruits and vegetables were the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain and China.
In 2019, the agro-export sector had a total growth of 7%, equivalent to US $ 7.089 million, and continued to be the second most important export sector in the country. The three most representative products in the sector were grapes with US $ 875 million (+ 7%), blueberries with US $ 825 million (+ 49%) and Hass avocado with US $ 752 million (+ 4%).

Last year, blueberry shipments (US $ 824 million 813 thousand) showed a positive variation of 50%, compared to 2018 (US $ 546 million 287 thousand), the Association of Exporters (ADEX) reported.
