Chile sees in Fruit Attraction an "opportunity to bring blueberries to the Spanish market"

Chile has once again wanted to be part of the International Fair of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector organized by IFEMA and FEPEX again in the Spanish capital. With a growing stand, fresh Chilean fruit has been presented as one of the main attractions for European markets.

For the third time in a row, Chile has participated in the VII edition of Fruit Attraction in Madrid, with a clear objective: the European market. «Currently Europe represents 32 percent of Chile's fresh fruit exports. “Spain, within that concept, is among the top five in that market in Europe.”, says the Director of Marketing in Europe, Far and Middle East of the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (ASOEX), Charif Christian Carvajal M. in statements to Notimérica.

Fruit Attraction is a very interesting fair for the market of exporters of fresh fruit from Chile, since this way they consolidate the current relations they have with a great variety of importers and distributors, "but also to prosper new opportunities with different products".

One of the biggest offers that Chile brings in terms of fruit are blueberries, something that is not very consumed or produced in Europe or, especially in Spain, then «Fruit Attraction is a new opportunity to bring this product to the Spanish market», says Carvajal. A large number of exporters of blueberries from Chile have come to this edition. Around 15 companies from Chile have been present during these three days of Fruit Attraction.

Chile is the current leader in exports of fresh fruit from the Southern Hemisphere, the world's leading producer and exporter of table grapes, blueberries, plums, "We are number three in kiwis, and we are around number one and number two in cherry exporters"He says.

«This fair has taken on a very international flavor compared to the editions of two or three years ago, which were very dedicated to Spain. However, now it has a very Mediterranean flavor, with countries present such as Italy, France, etc. In addition, there are more and more visitors from outside.recalls Carvajal.

Finally, as a balance of the experience of Chile in Fruit Attraction, the director of ASOEX assures that next year they will be present again, with much more to offer.

In this edition, hosted by IFEMA, there have been six countries in Latin America that have participated in the convention: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Nicaragua, Chile and Peru. In total, despite the fact that it is only 9 percent of the exponents, they show great interest in the Fair and its possibilities in order to bring their products to leading markets in the fruit and vegetable sector, such as Spain.

International participation has been one of the pillars of the VII edition of Fruit Attraction, the International Fair of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector organized by IFEMA and FEPEX, since in this edition international participation, especially in the field European, has grown considerably. However, the presence of countries that do not belong to the European Union is becoming increasingly relevant.
