The Chilean blueberry, a product that seeks to gain market space in China

The Chilean agricultural industry continues taking steps towards the front and seeks to profile itself as one of the most prolific export concept for the closure of the 2018 year in the country. Or so says the Directorate General of International Economic Relations (Direcon)

Spokespersons of the organization announced that they have organized a series of public and private meetings in order to determine which are the agricultural items of Chile that can compete against the United States within the dynamic and demanding Chinese market.

The cranberries, walnuts, raisins, apples and strawberries stand out in the 73 foods that the Direcon seeks to position within the so-called "Asian monster". All this with the support of the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile (Asoex).

The preliminary information of the measure affirms that the list was prepared based on Chilean agricultural products that would not have a higher incidence of taxes in China, in comparison to those of the United States, a country that faces a "commercial war" against China.

Felipe Lopeandía, director of economic affairs at Direcon, pointed out that "it is necessary to carry out an analysis for each of the products regarding, for example, whether it has the relevant sanitary or regulatory authorizations to be able to effectively enter those markets."

In the event that this is not so, he added, it will be necessary to go to the corresponding channels so that the bilateral instances that regulate the respective matters can intervene, and thus obtain the necessary authorizations for the products to enter quickly.
