Peru was the world capital of food

Buyers from all five continents expressed interest in superfoods. The national offer at the 11 ° Expoalimentaria is made up of avocados, grapes, blueberries, mangoes, asparagus, native potatoes, oregano, bananas, aguaymanto, dried pineapple, camu camu, turmeric, yacon, aromatic herbs, among many others.

Also, confirming its position as an international fair, companies from 18 countries participated: Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, Spain, United States, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Portugal, Thailand and Turkey

Among its offer are organic azai puree, coconut water, raw peanut oil, gingerbread bread sticks, dried garlic, tequila, wafers of various flavors, organic agave syrup (millenary plant), avocado oil, balsamic vinegars , smoked pepper, marinated mushrooms with Italian flavor and biodegradable dishes, among others.

The first edition of the fair established business for US $ 25 million and last year over US $ 800 million, so in this edition expectations are high.

Companies and associations from the regions participated, some with the support of their regional governments and others independently. They come from Lima, Ucayali, La Libertad, Ayacucho, Ica, Junín, Arequipa, Apurímac, San Martín, Áncash, Tacna, Lambayeque, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Piura and Cusco.

Innovation Competition and thematic rooms

Within the framework of the Expoalimentaria, the 10 ° Innovation Contest was held, which rewards business creativity for developing innovative products. A total of 14 companies presented more than thirty products in the various categories.

Likewise, in order to highlight the use of Peruvian products in gastronomy, the Culinary Hall was held that focused on conscious cooking and fusion cooking. On Thursday, the Peruvian Cocoa and Coffee Pavilion for the world was inaugurated, with the participation of Devida and allied institutions such as USAID and Technoserve and the Pisco Hall in which local bartenders, convened by Conapisco, will prepare original cocktails using fruits and Peruvian herbs

In the Tasting Room, conferences were held with the best tasters and experts in the sector. A contest was held for the best stand and there will be a Food Trucks and Take & Go area. The keynote lectures - given by Peruvian and foreign specialists - were focused on three main axes: sustainability and fair trade, technology and innovation, and markets and trends.

The Expoalimentaria is a joint effort between the public and private sector to promote Peruvian food in the world. It is organized by ADEX with the support of the Mincetur, Minagri, RR.EE. and PromPerú.
