2020-2021 Season Preview: Chilean fresh fruit exports reflect growth in Asia and Latin America
Chilean exports
Asia leads as destination with the reception of 37,8% of the total exports, followed by the United States with 26,8%.
Europe ranks third with 17,9%, followed by Latin America with 15,4%, the Middle East 2,4% and Canada 1,9%.
To date, the growth of Chilean fruit shipments to the Asian market stands out, an increase that amounts to 16,41% in relation to the same period of the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Latin America also stands out with an increase of 7,3%.
The most demanded
On the other hand, the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Canada registered decreases of -10%, 17%, 35%, and 1% respectively.
In terms of species, the main fruits exported by the country, in terms of volumes, are table grapes with a share of 28,7% in total exports, followed by cherries with 19,2%, apples 17% , plums 6,6%, blueberries 6,4%, pears 4,8%, nectarines 3,9%, avocados 3,9%, and mandarins with 3,4% of the total fruit exported to date.
