Chile: This year's cranberry season ends more abruptly
With 185 tons exported during the 11 week, Chile's season comes to an end a bit more abruptly than the previous season. The total to date sum 110.794 tons, slightly higher than those exported last season in the same week. Of this total, 13.301 tons correspond to organic blueberries, which experienced a strong growth this campaign, an 33% with respect to the previous year.
In terms of market distribution, North America represented 58% of shipments, Europe one 29% and Far East 12%. Meanwhile, in terms of volume growth, Europe grew by 6.600 tons, Far East by 303 tons, while North America was reduced by 6.167 tons.
This is the end of the 2018 / 19 season of blueberries from Chile, which had a very similar behavior to last season in its beginnings, with a slow start associated with the lower spring temperatures. In as much, the volumes of term were observed with a more abrupt fall from the end of February and throughout March.
