30% of Camposol's blueberry hectares are under organic agriculture

El 30% of the hectares of blueberries of the Camposol company are under organic agriculture, a category that has been increasing its participation every year in the shipments of said fruit by Peru.

The agro-industrial company currently has 2.670 hectares of blueberries, of which the 30% is under organic agriculture and 70% in conventional agriculture.

All Camposol blueberry areas are located in the valley of Chao-Viru, in the irrigation of Chavimochic (La Libertad). The company has working 24 years in the area.

Óscar Fernández Cornejo, Camposol's blueberry agricultural manager, said that the main phytosanitary challenge of organic blueberries For its represented it is the complex of the white pig of the mealybug, because this group of insects has few control tools so far.

“To date we use products based on neem plantThat is the main tool to control this plague ”. Other blueberry pests they are botrytis, rust and powdery mildew. Currently there are more than 10 pests in this crop.
