Fedefruta welcomes the installation of the Constitutional Convention and pledges its support

"We hope that (...) a stage of dialogue will begin in the country, in which all constituents, citizens and civil society actors, are willing to look at each other"

The president of the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile (Fedefruta), Jorge Valenzuela, on behalf of the union body, welcomed the installation of the Constitutional Convention that will create a new Constitution for Chile, and also highlighted the suitability of its elected leaders, noting the next:

“After assuming the Constitutional Convention, we congratulate each democratically elected representative who has taken office. In turn, we highlight the powerful signal of the election as president of Dr. Elisa Loncón, a representative of indigenous peoples and a highly respected academic.

She knows the life of the countryside and its needs closely, so it is a reason for hope for our sector that it can also represent the vision of those who live in rurality, often invisible.

We also greet Vice President Jaime Bassa, an expert on constitutional issues whose work will give substance to the process that will lead us to a new Magna Carta ”.

The union leader of Chilean fruit producers pledged the sector's support to the tasks of the Constitutional Convention, adding:

“We hope that with the Convention a stage of dialogue will begin in the country, in which all constituents, citizens and civil society actors are willing to look at each other, with the aim of listening, empathizing and including. At Fedefruta we are committed to proposing and always contributing in that spirit ”, he concluded.
