Chinese blueberries enter the peak of the season

Chinese blueberries are in their period of greatest sales in their domestic market. The marketing calendar in each producing area varies according to latitude. In Yunnan, the fruit reaches maturity mainly between early March and mid-May. The selling price peaks in March, so early fruit has a huge advantage.

A small number of domestic blueberries were on sale at the Jiaxing Fruit Market as early as March. Affected by the pandemic, sales decreased in April. But once the market recovered, the commercial activity was almost the same as last year around the same time. The volume traded only decreased by 7,84% in April compared to the previous year, while from March 1 to 23 it increased by 108,38%. It has become the reference product of fine national fruits in the current market, and its popularity is no less than that of Chilean cherries.

The main brands are Joyvio and Yikeberry. In recent years, many companies or producers have also taken the first step in Branding and have registered their own trademarks.

The quality gap between the first and the last batch of fruit during the ripening period is too wide, which also causes the problem of price differences between different periods in the same production area. The common packaging format is 12 tubs of 125 g per box, and the price has two ranges: one ranges from 60 to 80 yuan and the caliber is less than 18 mm; the other ranges from 120 to 160 yuan and the caliber is 18mm or larger. The Yikeberry brand blueberry is more expensive, around 140 yuan for the size smaller than 18mm and 200 yuan for the size larger than 18mm.

Due to the rapid expansion of blueberry marketing in recent years, the price has fallen slightly in contrast to the increase in commercial volume. From May 1 to May 23, the overall average price of blueberries was 43,31 yuan/kg, 19,35% lower than the same period last year.
