Adding value to the cranberry industry

In its plant located in Los Niches, Curicó, investments were made in technology for the processing of fruit and a thorough control of the cold chain, which allows to guarantee and satisfy the requirements and needs of all of its customers.
Terramater at its San Jorge plant seeks to add value to the fruit through its experience as producers, processors and exporters of fruit, generating long-term relationships based mainly on trust and good service.

In the current global panorama, where the market and consumers are constantly changing, and under the current perspective that the processes of globalization and standardization are irreversible and imminent in the food industry, a good feedback of information in all the value chain. From understanding the purposes and perceptions of value of our clients, their concerns and their needs

On the other hand, and as a result of the interaction of our service with customers, important premises arise, such as the attributes that a customer seeks when choosing a plant that provides blueberry packing services.
Sixteen attributes were raised from this interaction with customers. Those that were categorized according to a relevance table, from "not relevant" to "essential", going through little relevant, relevant and very relevant.
Of the sixteen (16) attributes consulted, the following eight (8) were considered Essentials Collections by customers:
| · Speed in the delivery of information to the client. |
| · Responsible management of raw materials, traceability of fruit by customer and producer. |
| · Loss of fruit due to incorrect parameterization of equipment and bad handling. |
| · Segregate grades appropriately. |
| · Processing room temperature at zero degrees. |
| · Pack in requested formats and appropriate weights. |
| · Calibrator and filler technology. |
| · Pre-cold entry speed of fruit received from the orchard. |
The following five (5) as Very relevant,
| · Responsible administration of supplies and materials. |
| · Lead time or processing speed less than 48 hours. |
| · Trained and customer-oriented staff. |
| · Quality team that reports an analysis of the commercial potential of the fruit. |
| · Sulfurous anhydride gasification chamber. |
And these three (3) attributes categorized them as Relevant,
| · Segregate into more than two ranges of calibers. |
| · Methyl bromide gasification chamber. |
| · Phosphine gasification chamber. |
Although technology, as a component that increases efficiency in processes and therefore in services, has become essential, it is not sustainable on its own, since it is necessary to look for a service that is not only efficient, but also effective , because the human component is preponderant so that both are in equilibrium. This has to do with working better, intelligently and in conjunction with technology and the client. So it is advisable to consider the attributes mentioned when choosing a service, and also always keep in mind the following:
- If the service provider plant is oversold.
- If you process other species in parallel.
- If the plant processes fruit of its property and of the same species and that this generates preferences in extreme situations when allocating processes.
- The simplicity in the tariff and its additional.
