Danper with US$35 million from IDB Invest: the projected initiatives

IDB Invest granted a multimillion-dollar loan to Danper to boost Peru's agro-export chain. Learn more about the initiatives that the company will implement with this capital.

Peru's Danper has obtained a US$35 million (32 million euros) loan from IDB Invest to boost agricultural production and increase exports. The project also seeks to increase Danper's purchases from local suppliers, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Thus, between 2024 and 2028, Danper's purchases from local suppliers are expected to reach US$115 million (105 million euros) per year on average.

In detail, the project includes a loan of up to US$25 million (22.8 million euros) over 10 years to improve Danper's productivity and a credit line of up to US$10 million (9.15 million euros) for its suppliers to advance the collection of invoices through the fintech platform Efactor Network.

For its part, IDB Invest, through the Women Entrepreneurs Financing Initiative (We-Fi), is providing technical assistance to strengthen the management of the agroindustrial company's suppliers.

This support is complemented by training in agricultural practices, leadership and support to create cooperatives led by women, among other actions.

Since December 2023, the Danper Group has been fully in the hands of local shareholders, following the consolidation of the company's shareholdings through a share purchase. Previously, the firm was controlled by a joint venture between Peruvian and Danish shareholders.

In recent years, the company exporting fresh and packaged products has recorded double-digit growth per year.

In 2021, the company's revenue was US$255 million and it expected a 2022% increase in 20. By 2030, its goal is to expand its revenue by more than 50% compared to its current level.

Danper CEO and founder Rosario Bazán recently told G de Gestión that they were considering inorganic growth to achieve the aforementioned objective. “We continue to look at the purchase of hectares to the extent that they add value to sustain profitability. We are evaluating possibilities within Peru and in other countries with significant competitive and logistical advantages,” revealed.
