10% Of 7.000 Moroccans displaced for strawberry now work in blueberry

About 10% of the 7.000 Moroccan seasonal workers who have traveled to the province of Huelva for the strawberry campaign have accepted the redistribution plan designed by the sector, which made it possible to change their employer to other crops like blueberry.

As reported to Efe from the Association of Producers and Exporters of Strawberry and Red Fruits of Huelva (Freshuelva), as some companies are terminating their strawberry campaign, a transfer of workers is taking place, within the province, to companies blueberry producers that need labor.

So far, they estimate that there has been a transfer of around 10% of these 7.000 workers who have come to the strawberry campaign hired from Morocco.

In the next few weeks, almost all the companies will end their activity in the strawberry campaign, with which these workers will gradually join other companies that need it.

However, from Freshuelva they are convinced that "there will not be work for everyone because there are not as many hectares of blueberries as there are strawberries and not as much labor is required."

Given this situation and also, they added, because around 70% of these workers have transferred their desire to return to their country at the end of the strawberry campaign, as they have done in previous years, they recalled, as UPA reported yesterday. , that a letter has been sent to the director general of Migrations warning him of this situation so that he can initiate the efforts to give him a solution and that they can return to their country.
