The blueberry genetics and nursery specialist has appointed Marc de Beer as its new CEO, effective October 13, bringing two decades of leadership experience in the animal genetics and nutrition sectors to guide the company's continued global expansion.

Fall Creek Farm & Nursery has announced the appointment of Marc de Beer as its new executive director, a measure that will take effect on October 13.

According to the blueberry genetics and breeding specialist, De Beer brings to the company two decades of leadership experience in animal nutrition and genetics.

Most recently, he served as president of Aviagen North America, a global leader in poultry genetics, with previous leadership roles at Elanco Animal Health and DSM Nutritional Products.

Originally from South Africa, de Beer earned a bachelor's and master's degree in animal science from Stellenbosch University and a doctorate in poultry science from the University of Arkansas.

“Marc brings an ideal combination of scientific foundation, people-centered leadership and operational excellence,” he said. Kevin Murphy, executive chairman of the board.

“It is deeply aligned with our values, which make Fall Creek who we are.

"He's the leader we need to leverage the strength of our global team and guide Fall Creek toward our vision and the next era of growth," Murphy said.

De Beer succeeds Court Brazelton, who has held senior leadership positions since 2019, first as co-CEO and then as sole CEO starting in January 2025.

For nearly 18 years at Fall Creek, Brazelton played a key role in expanding the company from its roots as a local Oregon nursery to a global genetics and nursery business.

He will continue to serve as a member of the board of directors, a committed shareholder, and a strategic advisor.

“The blueberry industry has experienced incredible growth and change, and there’s much more to come,” Brazelton said.

Fall Creek remains committed to innovation and service to growers, customers, and consumers, while also supporting the success of the global blueberry community.

“Looking to the future with a clear vision for the industry and for Fall Creek, I am delighted to welcome Marc to the Fall Creek family and help make that vision a reality,” he said.

“He brings humility, experience, and leadership skills that align with our culture and will drive the company forward.”

De Beer said he is excited to join Fall Creek and contribute to a company “defined by innovation and strong values.”

"I look forward to listening, learning, and collaborating with employees and customers around the world as we continue to build 'a world of better blueberries,'" he added.
