Fall Creek reaffirms its commitment to high-chill varieties in Chile.
Fall creek is strengthening its team in the southern region of Chile with a view to taking advantage of the southern advantages that coincide with the origin of varieties with high cold requirements, which are also produced almost exclusively in Chile to meet the demand for high quality in demanding markets during our natural production period in that region.
The Fall Creek Chile Conecta event, in its various editions, is generating positive effects in the industry.
With a focus on innovation, collaborating with local and international players in production, post-harvest and logistics technology, this latest event, held in Valdivia on August 20th prior to Blueberry Day in Chilean Fruit Blueberry Committee, generated a very energetic effect on the attendees and their companies.
Ernesto Pino, General Manager of Fall Creek Chile, presented the current outlook and the opportunity for fresh blueberry companies in Chile, especially in the southern region. He highlighted Chile's competitive opportunity compared to its counterparts in the tropics and subtropics, such as Peru, Morocco, and Mexico. In the same section, Alvaro Vera, "Grower Support” from the sales team, detailed the commercial aspects of the new genetic platforms, SEKOYA® AND COLLECTION®, while the entire sales team, in the next Block, in a presentation with a lot of data generated in the new projects in Chile, delved into the attributes and behavior of the main 6 varieties recently introduced in Chile for validation and adoption, making clear the superiority and advantages and challenges that all bring to compete in Chile's natural productive window. They reinforced the fact that in our case, with cold climate genetics, all these new varieties stand out for their flavor and also firmness, precocity and productivity. The varieties presented in their previews were: Sekoya Fiesta™'FC13-113'; Sekoya Crunch™ 'FC13-083'; Sekoya Grande™ 'FC13-122'; Sekoya Pop™ 'FCM14-052'; ArabellaBlue™ 'FC14-062'; LunaBlue™ 'FC12-205'; LoretoBlue™ 'FC11-118'. All of them offer extremely attractive features for companies looking to participate in this new era of the fresh blueberry industry in Chile.
Finally, Francisco lobo, in a very complete presentation, showed the robust work behind the generation of this new genetics that is already bearing fruit after 25 years of work by the Research and Development team of Fall Creek® in the world and the Oregon research team (Head Office). He also reviewed the selections that are on their way to entering commercial platforms, emphasizing 'FC15-173'; 'FC16-003'; and the impressively strong 'FC11-164'.

Fall Creek® has opened an invitation to all attendees and interested parties to the field days to be held in November for each of the varieties of these platforms, where the real results of the orchards planted since 2020 will be seen in the field, especially the most recent ones planted in 2023 and 2024, which are already showing surprising levels of development and production with the plant produced at the Fall Creek® facilities in Coihueco.
