Blueberries Consulting and the University of Almería come together to offer the title of Expert in Irrigation and Nutrition of Blueberries

The leading Spanish university, together with the consultant, organizes remote professional training with a university academic degree for berry producers.

Maintaining and improving the quality of fresh blueberries has become a challenge for the industry. Unpredictable weather conditions, labor shortages, lack of natural resources in good condition, in addition to transportation logistics problems, are some of the challenges that producers must face to export with the certainty that their utility will be profitable.

That is why it is more relevant to learn about water efficiency in blueberry cultivation, and the efficient use of reusable resources to nourish and improve the state of the soil or substrate in which the plant is found. This latest cultivation system, noted for its efficient use of water, proposes new challenges, such as salinity management, and new opportunities with the improvement of the blueberry's ability to adapt to non-traditional areas.

The University of Almería, a renowned Spanish institution noted for having thirteen of the most influential researchers in the world according to the Stanford University ranking, will work together with Blueberries Consulting, an international company with a long history of promoting the sustainable cultivation of blueberries, to organize jointly professional programs with a university degree to train experts in irrigation and plant nutrition in blueberries.

Blueberries Consulting, taking its seminars to the main blueberry exporting countries in the world; Peru, Chile, Mexico, Morocco and Spain, have witnessed the interest that many of the producers who accompany them in their events have for specialized knowledge in this crop, which is why they create this academic program together with the University of Almería.

There are two programs offered: a Diploma and the higher degree of International Expert Level. They can apply to both agricultural technical programs, agronomists or people from related careers who can demonstrate their career in the blueberry industry. Check the content grid.

This is an opportunity for those who are interested in improving their knowledge, but do not have the time or the opportunity to leave their countries of residence, since it is taken online through the Agricultural Seminars.

The diploma course called “Conventional Production and Soilless Cultivation in Blueberries: Use of Substrates and Fertigation” is a 60-hour program that accumulates 8 academic credits at the University of Almería. This program is a prerequisite to obtain the higher academic degree of "International Expert Irrigation and Nutrition in Blueberries: Conventional Production and Soilless Cultivation", a certificate for which it is required to pass the diploma and a second block on "Nutrient solutions and management of ferti-irrigation in blueberries”, accumulating 150 hours.

In total, the higher academic degree of International Expert in Irrigation and Nutrition accumulates 18 credits. The accumulated credits can be validated for the continuity of studies in Master, representing 30% of the total credits necessary to pass this program. However, the University of Almería has as a requirement to have obtained a university professional degree to study a Master in the institution, so only those who have this professional degree can validate the credits. The application to this program is the responsibility of the student and must be done on their own.

Applications will be open on the platform from August 1 Agricultural Seminars. When applying, you must choose the educational program you want to study: the International Expert Level program, includes the Diploma certificate. But if you choose to only take the Diploma, you will not have the option to advance to the Expert Level program. Therefore, if you want to achieve this higher academic degree, you must apply directly to the Expert Level program.
