Next Thursday, April 10th, the Chilean blueberry industry will meet with various international players from the agro-fruit and export industries. It will be a very intense meeting where the current situation of the blueberry industry worldwide and Chile's potential to regain a leading position in this global market will be analyzed and evaluated.

Factors

The Peruvian industry's unattainable achievements in terms of fruit volume and quality; the competitive advantages of new genetics with zero or low chilling requirements; consumers' high environmental standards; the advancement of Peru's port infrastructure, which would allow it to reduce trips to China by a third; and the growing labor shortage, among other factors, jeopardize the real opportunities for Chilean blueberries in the most important competitive markets.

Diagnosis and projections

El 35th International Blueberry Seminar To be held on April 10 at the Monticello Events Center, this will be an opportunity to confront the reality of the Chilean blueberry industry and identify the real opportunities it offers as a sustainable and profitable business for Chilean producers.

The quality and prestige of the panelists participating in the discussion of the various topics in the various panel discussions guarantee an accurate and reliable diagnosis of the current state of the industry and its projections. This will provide an opportunity for the Chilean industry to recover or to decide on different strategies for the export business, such as moving into processed or frozen fruit, or diversifying crops in the search for a more profitable product.

This year, the cherry crop is also featured in the program, so several experts will participate in the first panel discussion: How to Make the Blueberry and Cherry Industries Compatible? Logistical and Commercial Challenges.
