Peruvian blueberry production reached 58,731 tons in August 2026, a growth of 29,8% compared to the same month of the previous year, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

According to the agency, the result was associated with a larger harvested area and increased demand for fruit destined for the external market and the agro-industry.

The figures are part of the technical report Peru: Departmental Economic Panorama, which compiles the evolution of different productive activities in the country.

Ica and Piura register the greatest progress

Ica led the year-on-year growth in production of blueberries during August, with an increase of 166,9%. Piura ranked second, with 160%.

Lima also registered increases, with 63,8%; Áncash, with 36,2%; and La Libertad, with 17,8%. Together, these five departments accounted for 81,6% of the national production of blueberries during the month

The situation was different in other producing areas. Moquegua registered a drop of 39,5%, while Lambayeque decreased by 5,5% compared to August 2025.

The differences show uneven performance across regions during the analyzed period. However, growth rates alone do not allow us to determine which department recorded the highest harvest volume or how much each contributed to the total increase, since the published report does not provide this regional breakdown in tons.

Production and exports: complementary indicators

Increased production does not necessarily translate into a corresponding increase in exports. The volume shipped also depends on the proportion of fruit suitable for export, trade programs, and market trends.

The INEI report does not detail the tons exported during August nor the contribution of each region to international shipments, so production and export statistics must be analyzed in a complementary way to observe how the Peruvian supply evolves.

August figures show strong year-on-year growth in Ica and Piura. However, without the volume produced by each region, the percentages allow us to identify where production accelerated, but do not yet establish which territory contributed the most tons to national growth.
