Huelva's blueberry exports grew in volume by 17,2% between February and June 2021

Exports of strawberries and blueberries from Huelva increased, as reflected in the synthesis of the 2020/21 campaign of Red Fruits carried out by the Observatory of Prices and Markets of the Junta de Andalucía,

Exports of blueberry they increased in volume between February and June 2021 by 17,2%, totaling 62.003 tons, and recorded a significant 22,3% increase in their value, reaching 374.001 thousand euros.

This is stated in the synthesis of the 2020/21 campaign of Berries made by the Observatory of Prices and Markets of the Junta de Andalucía, in which it is indicated that the price of blueberries has stood at € 6,03 / kg, 4,3% higher than that registered in the same period of 2020.

75,3% of blueberry exports have been monopolized by three countries: specifically, Germany (43,0%), the United Kingdom (17,0%) and the Netherlands (15,3%).

From the Junta de Andalucía they have indicated that the monthly trend of blueberry exports has been "similar" to last season, while extra-community exports remain "very little" representative.

In the case of strawberries, between December 2020 and June 2021, exports of strawberries of Andalusian origin amounted to 242.308 tons. Said volume is 3,7% higher than that reached in the same period of the previous campaign, although 1,7% lower than in the same period two campaigns ago. Exports in value have increased with respect to the previous season by 17,1%, reaching close to € 535 million. Regarding the price of the exported strawberry, it has experienced a significant rebound compared to the same period of the previous season, standing at € 2,21 / kg.

Germany (32,5%) continues to be the main destination market for Andalusian strawberries, followed by France (14,9%), the United Kingdom (14,8%), Italy (10,3%) and the Netherlands (5,6 , 80,0%). Together they represent about XNUMX% of strawberry exports.

Regarding the monthly trend of Community exports, the Observatory assures that it is "similar" to that of last season, with a decrease in February and an increase in April.

Raspberry exports, meanwhile, have suffered a contraction of 6,5% in volume and 0,6% between October 2020 and June 2021. Germany (29,5%), United Kingdom (29,2% ), The Netherlands (13,3%) and France (10,7%) are its most important destinations.

The monthly trend of exports has been similar to last season, with a notable decrease in Community exports in January and February. Exports from outside the EU are still very unrepresentative.
