Moroccan agricultural boom: Exports to Spain grow by 269% in a decade

Morocco continues to consolidate its role as a key supplier of fruits and vegetables to Spain, bringing the flavors of the Kingdom directly to the neighboring country's supermarkets. From blueberries and raspberries to the juiciest tomatoes, Moroccan products have earned a prominent place in Spanish homes, reflecting both the quality of their production and the strength of the trade ties between the two countries.

In the first four months of 2025, Morocco exported €672 million worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to Spain, a 28% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Spain currently sources approximately 33% of its fruit and vegetable products from Morocco, consolidating the kingdom's position as a leader in the national market.

Among the most notable products are blueberries, which increased in value from €131,45 million in 2024 to €172,22 million in 2025, and raspberries, which increased from €105,92 million to €133,54 million. Tomatoes, a symbol of the agri-food competition between the two countries, registered a 63,47% growth compared to the previous year, with sales reaching €63,47 million in the first four months of 2025.

The evolution of Moroccan tomatoes is even more significant when compared to the Spanish trend. While Spanish exports to the EU fell by 25% between 2014 and 2024, imports from Morocco grew by 269%, rising from 18.045 to 66.624 tons over the same period.

In short, Morocco continues to play a reliable and growing role as a supplier of high-quality fruits and vegetables, contributing to the diversity and richness of the Spanish market and strengthening the commercial and cultural ties between the two countries.
