Peru's Perishable Exports Increase to South Florida
The total volume exported with the cold treatment to these ports of entry is four times higher than that reached in 2014.
The cold treatment approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), for the entry of Peruvian perishables through the ports of Florida (United States), has favored the increase in the volume of our exports to the ports of Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
This was pointed out by the Commercial Office of Peru in Miami (OCEX Miami), who stressed that a barrier that prevented the export of these products directly to the south of that country was eliminated in this way. The fruits included in this protocol are blueberries, grapes and citrus fruits from Peru.
According to the Florida Perishables Coalition, the two main South Florida ports have received more than 1,000 boxes of blueberries from Peru at the 2015, 240 number higher than what was received during the entire 14.
Similarly, in the 2015 have received more than 68 thousand boxes of grapes, which represents an increase of 3% compared to the dispatched the 2014, while citrus have exceeded the 34 thousand boxes through Port Miami and Port Everglades .
The total volume exported with this treatment to these ports of entry is four times higher than that reached in 2014, and a continuous growth is expected for the coming years.
