Chile: Port workers end unemployment in Central Port in San Antonio
In the afternoon of yesterday, the Federation of Port Maritime Workers of Costanera Espigón (Fetraportces) ended the strike that it maintained from Saturday 3 of January.
This after reaching an agreement with the company Puerto Central (PCE) of San Antonio, in a meeting that lasted for long hours.
Diego Silva, president of Fetraportces, pointed out that the 90% of their demands were accepted, including modifications to the night bonus, having approach buses and 1.500 monthly shifts to distribute among casual workers.
It should be remembered that the workers' stoppage generated concern in the Chilean fruit export sector.
Aldo Signorelli, manager of Puerto San Antonio indicated that "the Chilean fruit that leaves the world through our port is shipped in the STI dealer, where it is operating normally".
"We are aware of the concern of the fruit sector and have contacted the exporters in order to give them peace of mind", He added, according to the local media Leader Of San Antonio.
The work in the Central Port will normally resume as of today.
