Export of Peruvian blueberries reached US $ 49 million in the first four months of the 2018

The US is one of the first destinations for exports of the Peruvian product. The increase in volume and a slight rise in the price pushed the result upwards.

The export of blueberries during the first four months of the year reached US $ 49 million, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur). The amount represents an increase of 232% with respect to the same period of the 2017.

The result of the first four-month period responds, according to Mincetur, to the considerable increase in volume, which went from 2.665 tons to 8.448 tons. Also, at the slight increase in the FOB price (5%)

The main markets of our blueberry in the first four months of the 2018, after the US and in order of participation, were The Netherlands (20%), The United Kingdom (7%) and Canada (5%). Only to the US shipments reached US $ 32 million, which meant an increase of 313% with respect to the same period of the 2017 (US $ 8 million).

With this result, the US continues to consolidate as the main destination of Peruvian blueberries (65% share), a country that is also the world's largest importer of this product.

It should be noted that, between January and April of this year, the main blueberry exporting region was La Libertad, which concentrated the 92% of fruit shipments.
