Fresh blueberry exports: Latin America's growth as a natural destination market.

The 2025 market yearbook of iQonsulting It presents interesting statistics on the evolution of production, imports, and exports. It mentions growth figures and trends for the coming years, from which the following percentages of share (of total volume) by country of origin of fresh blueberries from the Southern Hemisphere considered in this analysis can be deduced and visualized:

Peru with a 72,8% share equivalent to 317.847 tons followed by Chile with 20,8% equivalent to 90.647 tons and South Africa with 5,2% with 4.993 tons as shown in graph #1

Chart No. 2

Regarding the variations in exported volumes between the 2024/25 season vs. the 2023/2024 season, we can highlight a 63,5% percentage increase for Latin America, which, although equivalent to 2.010 tons, is a very positive differential volume. This value demonstrates the impact of applying competitive strategies and the maturity of producing countries in the Southern Cone in diversifying their own region's markets. These effects impact competitiveness and the implications of lower logistics costs and the effect on the better condition of arrival of that fruit due to a shorter transit time. An increase of 26,7% for North America, equivalent to 46.137 tons, and a 26,3% increase for Europe, equivalent to 31.633 tons, between the 2024/25 season and the 2023/2024 season. See Chart No. 3.
