The blueberries They were among the main Peruvian products shipped to Hong Kong between January and July 2026, with exports of US$11,619 billion, in a scenario now marked by the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both economies.
According to the Association of Exporters (ADEX), grapes reached shipments of US$11,892 billion during the same period, followed very closely by blueberries.
The figures show that Peruvian fruit already had a significant trade flow to Hong Kong before the agreement came into effect, which began on September 1.
A new framework for trade
ADEX highlighted that the agreement represents an opportunity to expand Peru's value-added offerings and especially strengthen non-traditional sectors, including agricultural exports.
Between January and July of this year, Peruvian exports to Hong Kong reached US$1.077 billion. Although trade continues to be largely dominated by traditional products, the export sector identifies opportunities to further develop agricultural shipments and diversify the offerings destined for that market.
During a working session organized by ADEX together with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the vice president of the association, José Carlos Schroth Parra del Riego, pointed out that strengthening market information, adapting products, expanding promotion and generating direct links with buyers will be key for more companies and producers to be able to take advantage of these opportunities.

Hong Kong also exhibits a high dependence on imports to meet its food demand. According to information from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), cited by ADEX, approximately 95% of the food it consumes is imported due to its limited availability of agricultural land.
These products include fresh fruit, which reinforces market interest for agricultural exporting countries like Peru.
Blueberries among the top shipments
The weight achieved by blueberries during the first seven months of the year confirms their relevance within Peruvian shipments to Hong Kong, in a market where fresh fruit is part of a food supply highly dependent on external sources.
ADEX also highlights Hong Kong's position as an important financial and logistics center within Asia, a condition that enhances its relevance for Peru's trade strategy in the region.
The Free Trade Agreement between Peru and Hong Kong has been in effect since September 1, 2026. For the blueberry sector, the agreement thus comes into force on a trade relationship that already registers significant shipments to Hong Kong and now adds a new framework for its development.
