Consultant highlights the necessary training of producers to take advantage of the potential of a market booming worldwide thanks to the nutritional characteristics of the fruit.
Considered in foreign markets as a super fruit, the blueberry or blueberry stands out particularly for its nutritional characteristics. In fact, it could become the 2017 in the third most exported fruit worldwide.
However, the initial enthusiasm of producers with this fruit has been faced with some adverse points that were not foreseen and led to commercial failure several ventures.
"During the first year of operations, 60% of companies failed. The main reason is the choice of irrigation water, a technical issue that was not 'mapped' on the producers' radar. What Peru needs is transfer of experience and knowledge for the good development of the cranberry industry and place it at a competitive level", They indicated from Blueberries Consulting.
For this reason, they consider vital the transfer of knowledge to all the members of the productive chain in such a way that from now on the projects of this type can really take advantage of the potential of a booming industry.
It should be noted that during the 2015, the international demand for blueberry increased by 219% with respect to the 2014, especially due to the growing interest of countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Spain and Singapore, among others.
At the local level, blueberry exports are projected to reach the US $ 200 million this year and the 2017 US $ 350 million. This productive chain would generate around 200.000 jobs this year.
