China represents a potential buyer of blueberries

The agency said that it was reported that the blueberry campaign began with a volume of 7,900 tons in weeks 27 and 37. Unlike the previous year, shipments of this fruit, from Peruvian customs, were detected from the second week of July and China appears as the big news in the panorama of buyer countries, with 24% of the total volume, compared to almost 0% in 2016.

This panorama is the result of the implementation of the phytosanitary protocol that allows the access of Peruvian blueberries to the Chinese market. The United States remains the main buyer of this fruit with 28%.

The blueberry campaign will extend until the first four months of the 2018. The results that have been collected show a growth trend, although they are not definitive for advancing a final volume.

In the same way, he informed that the export volume of Peruvian avocados was increased by 26% to the 37 week of the 2017, with respect to the 2016.

He specified that between January and September of this year 271 thousand tons were sent in more than 11 thousand containers of avocado. These figures are very close to the results of the closing of the campaign that concludes in the 38 week and allow us to affirm that the 2017 season was better than the previous year.

The United States reported an increase in its demand of 129% with respect to the January-September period of the 2016, "a fact of great importance because it implies a diversification in the markets of destination of this fruit".
