The cranberry industry: Where should we aim in the future?

Specialists in business and marketing will present approaches and answer questions about the production and export of berries in the most challenging markets of the world during the second edition of International seminars offered by our organization Blueberries Consulting the next October 30 in Madrid, Spain.

The cranberry industry is experiencing one of the most important moments since it became a fruit known worldwide, less than a decade ago. And is that factors such as healthier lifestyles as well as their nutritional properties have given greater exposure to this "super fruit".

But the increase in demand has opened, in turn, a great door of challenges for those who have dedicated themselves to the production of one of the most outstanding berries of the moment. Aspects such as the freshness, taste or crispness of cranberry, are determining factors in the success of its import to more demanding destinations such as Asia and the Middle East.

The analysis of the most recent blueberry harvest season leaves some clear points in relation to how the industry moves today. For example, new production and export actors such as South Africa and Peru stand out, which are aimed at increasing their local productivity.

Others not as novice as the United States or Chile maintain significant volumes of their respective international production and marketing, and despite growing competition, remain focused on the objective of dominating markets as coveted as China, which is increasingly interested in the cranberry.

But what does the future hold for the commercialization of this fruit and how can the challenges of an industry that still poses so many challenges with each season be understood? These questions will be explored and clarified in our next seminar.

The Hotel Meliá Avenida América in Madrid, Spain, will receive specialists in the field of commercialization and development of the industry such as Mr. Federico Beltrán, who is the General Manager of Terra Business SAC.

Its pertinence and experience around the main international markets of the blueberry will bring to the front the discussion on the development of the dynamics and the competences that revolve around a topic so important for those who move within the industry of the berries at present.

The participants of the seminar will receive some guidelines on the behavior of the next blueberry harvest seasons, while having first-hand information on the investment zones and how to attack the markets with the greatest potential in the world.

The European context for blueberries will be examined by the Sr. Hans Liekens, Commercial Manager for Europe, Asia and the Middle East of the company Fall Creek Farm & Nursery, who will put on the table how the blueberry market has developed in the “old continent”, while reviewing the trends for the coming years and some commercial forecasts in that matter.
