BerryWorld: Celebrating 30 years with new varieties
BerryWorld proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary and its portfolio of varieties continues to constantly improve. Founded in 1994, the group BerryWorld has evolved from its British roots to be an international market leader in the soft fruit category, spanning the entire supply chain. With access to exclusive patented and award-winning genetics, thanks to state-of-the-art growing and packaging practices and three decades of experience in developing consumer markets, the company is well positioned for continued growth and innovation during 2024.
2023 was an important year for BerryWorld, due to the acquisition of a minority stake in the group by Agroberries. In 2024, the group will promote four new varieties of berries, praised by producers and supermarkets alike.
BerryWorld Orb®, the pioneer blueberry of the BerryWorld Plus® program, will see its first volumes in 2024. Samuel Rowe, CEO of BerryWorld Varieties explains, “BerryWorld Orb® is welcomed into our high-chill varietal offering and has spent a few years in development. The fruit is tasty, the blueberries firm and long-lasting; We look forward to delivering commercial volumes in 2025.”

Impressive expansion in Egypt for BerryWorld and Agriventure
Season blueberries Egyptians is now in full swing and BerryWorld and Agriventure are delighted with the quality this year. Agriventure's plantations, in exclusive agreement with BerryWorld, are the largest in Egypt. To date, Agriventure has over eighty hectares of industry-leading Mountain Blue varieties, and early season production has been very promising.
“The plants are producing large, sweet blueberries with perfect texture. We are excited to see what the season has in store for us this year, as early customer feedback has been very positive,” explains Ali Diab, CEO of Agriventure. The Egyptian production period is strategically important within BerryWorld's objectives of supplying premium varieties year-round to global retail markets, dovetailing with the Southern African, Zimbabwean and Iberian seasons respectively.
“We anticipate significant commercial volumes in 2025 and are delighted that the Egyptian production window will help us consistently supply Mountain Blue blueberry genetics throughout the year.
This year's Southern Africa and Zimbabwe seasons have been particularly strong and now, with Egypt and Morocco in season, we can continue to generate demand and delight consumers around the world ahead of Iberia from spring. We see Egypt as a potential supplier for Europe and for the rapidly growing markets of the Middle and Far East due to its strategic geopolitical position and international logistics,” explains Adrian Olins, CEO of the BerryWorld division.
