Blueberries Consulting takes a seminar to Trujillo Peru with a program focused on the current situation of the Peruvian blueberry industry

A new meeting of the Peruvian blueberry industry organized by Blueberries Consulting will take place in Trujillo.

49% of the area planted with blueberries in Peru is located in the department of La Libertad, making its capital, Trujillo, the epicenter of the blueberry boom in Peru. That is why Blueberries Consulting visits this country again to organize the XXIII International Seminar on Blueberries Trujillo Peru 2022. With the aim of repeating the successful meeting organized during March in Lima, Blueberries Consulting arrives in Trujillo with new and outstanding speakers on selected topics for address the challenges and opportunities left by the last season of the Peruvian fruit.

Thus, for two days, this July 6 and 7 at the Hotel Costa del Sol Wyndham Trujillo Golf, producers, suppliers and businessmen will be able to share again in an event sponsored by Agap Peru.

During the first day, we go to the meeting for Federico Beltrán, Gte. General of Terra Business SAC, with the talk "Past, present and future of the blueberry business in Peru", emphasizing the bases of what will be discussed at the event.

After that, Bruno Defilippi and Claudio Yañez will respond to some of the challenges of the blueberry business with their respective talks "How to optimize post-harvest technologies in the face of the greatest logistical challenges" and "Segregation of raw materials and critical points: determining factors for the export of quality blueberries”. Their talks will give way to the round of questions, where each exponent will be able to answer the questions of the audience.

Claudio Moreno, R&D Manager of Agrofresh, will talk about crop management with his theme "Harvista™ a new technology for managing quality fruit crops". To talk about phytosanitary hazards and their control, he will be followed by INIA researcher and international consultant, Andrés France, with his talk "Foliar diseases of blueberries: a growing challenge" and Eduardo Donoso, Director of research and development of Bio Insumos Nativa, presenting on “Biological control strategies for diseases in blueberries”.

Consumers are demanding more vigorously sustainable and efficient crops to improve the use of the environment. That is why in the third block of the first day, Juan Francisco Palma together with Edgar de la Huerta, both part of SQM global, will present on crop efficiency with the theme "News in blueberry nutrition: analytical methodology and crop control ”.

María del Carmen Salas, researcher and doctoral professor at the University of Almería, will present a very interesting and up-to-date topic "Biofertigation in blueberries and salinity control in pots", in which she will even address salinity management in soilless cultivation. .

Finally, the first day will be closed by the talk "Difficulties in quality and post-harvest aspects presented by the new varieties of blueberries in different producing areas of Peru" presented by Paula del Valle, Consultant and specialist in blueberries.

Faced with the fertilizer price crisis, many are considering using other, more accessible options that can generate a higher selling price for the fruit, and therefore, higher income: we are talking about organic blueberries. To update us on the regulations of the most important markets regarding organic crops, Martín Cotos, Gte. of Operations of Control Union the topic "Update of regulations for organic production in the USA and Europe", followed by Antonio Gaete, Advisor in organic production who will present on the "Critical points to consider in the organic production of blueberries in Peru". Finally, the international organic advisor Emilio Merino will close the block, with the talk "Organic production in blueberries: management and biostimulation of the crop", completing a review of what is a great commercial opportunity for the Peruvian industry.

To close the second day, Juan Hirzel, international researcher and consultant, will speak about the main value attribute of the fruit at the time of sale, with the talk "Nutrition strategies to improve quality attributes in blueberries".

A program loaded with analysis and discussion on the challenges that the largest blueberry exporting industry faces, its possible solutions and the opportunities that are growing given the current international economic situation will be discussed at the second meeting organized by the experienced Blueberries Consulting team in Peru . An event that brings together the most important industry leaders; its suppliers, producers and exporters, turning the occasion into an important opportunity for networking and discussion to promote the Peruvian blueberry in the international market.
