Expectation grows for the inauguration of the "World Blueberry Tour" in Lima

It will be an intense meeting of the Peruvian and international blueberry industry that, after two years of separation as a result of the pandemic, will meet again, to give a new impetus to an industry that is in very good health, due to the fact that the demand of blueberries in international markets is growing steadily.

More than 500 people will attend the two days of the XIX International Blueberry Seminar to be held at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center, in the financial district of the Peruvian capital, which will kick off the Blueberry World Tour, which for two years will visit the main producing and exporting countries of blueberries on the planet.

The companies are already setting up their stands while prominent businessmen reserve tomorrow on the calendar, to share and learn from academics and researchers who are experts in the cultivation and marketing of blueberries.

The industry

The program contemplates on the first day, corresponding to March 9, to develop an in-depth analysis of the Peruvian blueberry industry and its different aspects related, not only to its production achievements, but also to its focus on social responsibility and environment, dwelling mainly on the keys that would explain the success achieved during the last five years and the challenges that are projected in the immediate future.

The varied genetic offer will also be dealt with extensively, to learn in detail the different varietal alternatives offered by the nursery market and the advantageous qualities of the new blueberry varieties for the industry.

The proper use of growth regulators, alternatives to improve pollination and the main problems in the arrival of the fruit to international markets will be dealt with by different specialists, as well as the analysis and corrective measures of the main problems in harvest and post-harvest of the fruit. fruit. Closing the day with a recount of the main steps and strategic decisions that the Peruvian industry has made in the last decade, to achieve the undisputed leadership position of the international export industry that it currently enjoys.

The second day, on March 10, will be dedicated mainly and in detail to delve into the agronomic elements of the crop, addressing the different aspects of nutrition, root behavior and development, the correct application of calcium, the use of biostimulants and strategies of application, and everything related to the field of crop nutrition.
