El International Blueberries & Cherries Seminar, the April 13 at the Monticello Hotel Conference Center, this time it will take place in two parallel halls of the venue, in such a way as to be able to address in depth the reality and future of the Chilean blueberry industry and also analyze in detail what is related to cherry cultivation. We are in an international scenario in which blueberry consumption is growing in almost the entire planet. In the main markets of the world, blueberries are already the protagonist. The numbers accompany it and it is projected that its consumption will continue to grow significantly in the next five years, both in the US (25%), and in Europe (75%) and especially in China (130%), for which reason It is a crop with great economic projection, although the industry data must be transparent to review its true profitability and projections.

Analysis and profitability  

In this perspective, Oscar Ayach will carry out an analysis of the costs and profitability of the production of blueberries in Chile, in such a way that the producers and different participants of the industry can evaluate and project their business on the basis of transparent, reliable and updated data.

Subsequently, the successful Peruvian businessman Juan Pablo Bentín will carry out a similar exercise, analyzing the profitability and costs associated with the production of blueberries in Peru, with a special focus on the importance of genetics in commercial results.

Challenges

In addition to stopping to analyze the profitability of the productive business, the different speakers will focus on various issues related to cultivation and its commercialization, such as Ignacio Santibáñez, CEO of Qima Produce, which will present the main problems in the arrival of the fruit to international markets, or the abundant genetic offer that exists in the market, exposed by different rapporteurs and companies. The challenges in logistics and the most appropriate and updated handling in the post-harvest stage of the fruit will also be addressed, by the renowned specialist Bruno Defilippi, among others.

El International Blueberries & Cherries Seminar of the April 13 at Monticello will begin with the intervention of the experienced analyst and international consultant, Manuel Jose Alcaino, who will address the challenges of the Chilean blueberry industry, which has lost the international leadership it had in the face of competition that continues to advance in its growth and development, not only in the case of Peru, but also Mexico, Morocco, South Africa and other emerging countries.

Manuel Jose Alcaino, along with another dozen specialists, will also participate in the parallel meeting dedicated to cherries, making a detailed analysis of the results of the last crop season.
