Peru is projected to export approximately 404 tons of fresh blueberries during the 2026-2027 season, a volume that would represent a 5,6% increase compared to the 382.934 tons shipped in the previous season, according to the third projection presented by Proarándanos.

The estimate was prepared using information available to date and submitted by producers and exporters. For the first time, the industry association included a weekly projection of the curve for the entire season, considering both conventional and organic blueberries.

Although the total volume would maintain a growth trajectory, Proarándanos warns that the result would fall short of the potential expected for the Peruvian industry without the effects associated with El Niño.

El Niño affects the campaign's projections

According to the trade association, Peru could have increased its exports by about 20% compared to the 2025-2026 season, driven by the entry into production of approximately 3.500 new hectares.

However, rising temperatures are already impacting crop productivity in the fields. The expansion of planted area would only partially offset this decrease, within a projection that places the season's growth at 5,6%.

According to information received from specialized agencies, the temperatures associated with El Niño could persist during the first and second quarters of 2027. This evolution could lead to significant adjustments in the estimate as the campaign progresses.

The peak is projected for week 43

The highest weekly volume is expected to be recorded in week 43, with approximately 19,7 million kilograms. This peak would occur three weeks later than in the previous season, when 20,9 million kilograms were reached in week 40.

In addition to the shift in the calendar, the maximum weekly volume would be lower than last season.

For the next ten weeks —between weeks 31 and 40— shipments are projected to be higher than those of the previous campaign until week 36. From then on, volumes would be below that benchmark.

Proarándanos attributes the faster initial pace to the consolidation of early varieties and the increase in planted area.

Between weeks 18 and 40, the accumulated volume would reach 170.071 tons, an increase of 8,7% compared to the 156.487 tons recorded during the same period of the 2025-2026 campaign.

The organic segment would close lower.

The projection for organic blueberries is approximately 31 tons by the end of the season, down from the 35 tons recorded in the previous season. This difference represents a decrease of about 11,4%.

In this segment, the highest volume is expected in week 42, at approximately 1,5 million kilograms. During the previous season, the peak occurred in week 40, reaching 1,9 million kilograms.

While the total volume would grow by 5,6%, the organic segment would close below the previous campaign.

Proarándanos will continue to consolidate the information provided by producers and exporters on a weekly basis. During September, the association will conduct another review of the production and export outlook, with the aim of publishing a fourth update for the 2026-2027 season.
